Yesterday was my first day in the preaching work. The group meets at 8:15 and we worked til 12. During the hottest part of the day we ate lunch. Then preached from 2-7pm. I was so whipped. It is so beautiful down here. Flowers and fruit trees grow wild everywhere. The people you preach to are so generous! We came home with about 2 dozen eggs, a watermelon, soup, and bunches of something that looks like a banana. I forget the name… But you cook it like a plantain. Everyone you talk to pulls up chairs for you to sit and talk to them about the Bible.
This is Natalie. It’s Michelle’s study. She is 9 and has been coming to the meetings since she started studying about 6 months ago. Only her grandma and cousin study too. But she is really making the truth her own! She started standing up for herself in school about the holidays telling people she doesn’t celebrate them because of her religion. She is so smart! After her study today we talked about the flag salute and she decided she isn’t going to do that anymore because she is a Jehovah’s Witness. *tear* She has been bringing her Bible to school to read it there. And she is going to bring her Bible and share a scripture with here teacher about what she is learning and how she is not going to salute the flag anymore. People don’t have much here but they love the truth!
This is her house.
The entire service group piles into the back of this truck and we drive to the territory. There we all get out and walk down the street preaching.
This is the couple I am living with. Juan and Hermania Vian. And of course Michelle.
So, funny story, I get to see the sea for the first time since I’ve been down here. And of course what do I want to do but run in and feel the sand beneath my toes! I have boots and socks on but that doesn’t stop me!
I rip them off and run in the water! That was nice but the problem came when I had to put them back on again. It’s really hard to put socks and boots on while also trying to rinse the sand off your feet, and standing on one foot. So, of course what happens… I fall in. Soak my inside of my boots and have soggy feet for the rest of the day. It was worth I though. Lol.
Wow! Sounds like a blast right from the start. Thank you for sharing the experience with the little girl. I can’t wait to hear more about her progress over the next three months and your ministry experiences! Keep them coming.
